Corona songs and no march past during I-Day function in Bandipora

The district administration on Saturday cancelled the march past ceremony during the I-day ceremony in north Kashmir’s Bandipora in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Deputy commissioner, Owais Ahmad, who hoisted the flag at SK stadium here in his speech apart from providing the developmental scenario of the district also laid emphasis on the COVID-19 pandemic by saying that ‘the world is passing through a situation which nobody had even thought of’.

   

He also appreciated the role of corona warriors who have been at the forefront fighting the virus. 

“I wholeheartedly thank and especially congratulate all those who have been fighting the virus in the forefront as Carona warriors,” Ahmad said, adding: “without caring for their own lives they have delivered duties day and night taking care of the sick.”

He also appealed to the people to take precautions and follow SOPs to control the spread of the pandemic.   

In a low-key function mostly attended by the officials, and a small number of public, a cultural singing programme was held in which the singers sang Corona songs describing its “deadly role by bringing the whole world down to its knees”. 

Keeping in view the surge in COVID-19 cases, the march past of all the contingents was cancelled.
