COVID-19: No congregational prayers at Hazratbal shrine on Shab-e-Meraj

There will be no night-long prayers on the upcoming Shab-e-Meraj on March 11 at the revered shrine of Hazratbal, Srinagar in view of the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, the shrine management said Sunday.

Quoting the management officials, news agency KNO reported that the decision was taken after the second round of deliberations in this regard on Saturday wherein it was decided that in view of the pandemic, it won’t be feasible to allow night-long prayers at the shrine on this year’s Shab-e-Meraj, the night commemorated every year to celebrate the journey to heavens by the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Almighty be upon him). 

   

However, the holy relic of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Almighty be upon him) will be displayed after every prayer for the devotees on March 12 and 13 (Friday and Saturday) and also on March 19 after every prayer, senior administrator of the shrine, Muhammad Shafi told KNO.
