With a 65-year old COPD patient’s death in Gurez on Wednesday, the death toll in this north Kashmir district rose to 19.
According to the officials, the elderly man from Baktoor village in Gurez valley had tested positive on Monday.
He had developed ‘severe breathlessness’ and was shifted to Gurez hospital where he had developed severe breathlessness following which, according to the officials, he was shifted to a Srinagar hospital.
However, he breathed his last while on way to the hospital, 150 kilometres from Gurez valley.
Block Medical officer, Dr Tahira confirmed the 65-year-old death’s to Greater Kashmir.
The latest death has taken the toll to 19 in the district, with 10 from Sumbal, 7 from Bandipora and 2 from Gurez blocks.
