Former BJP activist shot at in Tral, injured

A former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activist was injured after being shot at by suspected militants at Kuch Mulla village of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday late evening.

According to the news agency GNS, masked gunmen fired upon the man identified as Abdul Rashid Bhat (50), son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat of Kuch Mullaa outside his home.

   

In the incident, Rashid received a bullet wound in his left foot.

Sources said that Rashid was earlier associated with BJP, however, later he quit the party several years back.

A police officer also confirmed the incident and said that the man has been hospitalised where his condition is said to be stable.

Soon after the incident, security forces launched searches in the area to track down the gunmen.
