Gunfight breaks out in Pampore after militants attack CRPF party: Army

A gunfight broke out between the security forces and the militants after the latter attacked a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) party in Pampore on the outskirts of Srinagar on Monday, army said.

A spokesman of the army said on Twitter that contact has been established with the militants and that the firing was going on.

   

He said that the firing took place after a joint operation was launched by the army, police and the paramilitary forces.

Two CRPF personnel were killed and three others wounded after militants attacked a road opening party (ROP) of the forces near Tangan bridge at Pampore today afternoon.

Soon after the attack, a search operation was launched by the police and the security forces.
