Heavy snowfall cuts off Gurez valley in north Kashmir

The frontier Gurez valley in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district received heavy snowfall on Tuesday, blocking the Bandipora-Gurez road.

According to the locals, heavy snowfall began today morning following overnight rains. “Over 7 inches of snowfall accumulated in less than an hour,” said a local resident.

Gurez valley had received nearly one feet snowfall three days ago.

The fresh snowfall has cut the valley by road for the fourth time this season as traffic remains suspended on Gurez-Bandipora road.

The Razdan Top, according to BRO officials, has received nearly 2ft snowfall, leading to road closure.

Meanwhile, according to the district administration, snow clearance operations are on in Dawar tehsil and its adjoining areas.
