Labourer killed, two others injured after falling from under construction railway bridge in J&K’s Ramban

A labourer died and two others were injured after they fell down from an under construction railway bridge in Sumbar area of Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir this noon. 

Police identified the deceased as 39-year-old worker, Zahoor Ahmad, son of Mohammad Afzal, a resident of Heewagan, Ramsoo sub division in Ramban district while the injured were identified as 22 year old Pradeep Kumar son of Daulat Ram resident of Kishtwar and 20-year- old Faisal Bashir son of Bashir Ahmed resident of  Tangmarg area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

   

The project the trio was working at is part of the IRCON international’s railway station and a part of over 13 kilometres longest railway tunnel between Sumbar and Khari.

Locals accused the construction company HCC for failing to provide ambulance to the labourers forcing them to ferry the trio in a pickup vehicle to the hospital 40 kilometres away and resulting in the death of one of them.

Holding a protest inside the premises of District Hospital Ramban against the company, they demanded a case be registered against the officials.
