Last batch of 310 stranded pilgrims arrive in Leh from Iran

The last batch of pilgrims stranded due to Covid-19 lockdown arrived in Leh on Sunday morning, officials said.

Around 310 people from Leh and Kargil districts of Ladakh union territory, mostly pilgrims had been stranded in Iran for last three months.

   

They were brought to Delhi by Mahaan Airlines where from they arrived in a special IAF flight in Leh.

“Last batch of Ladakhi returnees land at Leh today. 310 people with 1 child and 3 infants after landing on way to Institutional quarantine in their respective districts” divisional commissioner, Secretary Ladakh union territory said in a tweet.

Chairman and Chief executive Councillor LAHDC Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan told Greater Kashmir that there are around 20 pilgrims from Kargil district who arrived in the last batch. Rest are from Leh, he said.
