A militant was killed in an ongoing gunfight in Yadipora area of Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday.
Official sources told news agency GNS that a militant was killed in the gunfight. His identity is yet to be ascertained.
Reports said that the gunfight broke out early morning after a joint team of police, army and CRPF launched a search operation in Yadipora village.
In the initial exchange of fire, they said, an Army Major of 29 RR was also injured, who was evacuated to 92 Base hospital for treatment.
A senior police officer told GNS that the operation was halted for some time as some civilians were trapped in the area. After they were rescued, the operation was resumed again, he said.
