Militants lob grenade at police officer’s residence in Awantipora; no loss

Suspected militants on Sunday evening lobbed a grenade at the residence of deputy superintendent of police operations in Awantipora police district in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

However, the grenade exploded outside the officer’s residence without causing any damage, said a police source.

   

He said the militants managed to escape from the spot.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Awantipora Tahir Saleem Khan said a sound was heard and that the police is ascertaining what happened.

In another incident, gunshots were heard in Sangam area of Bijbehara in Anantnag district.

However, there was no immediate official confirmation.
