A brief exchange of fire took place between militants and security forces in Parigam area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday.
A senior police officer told news agency GNS that a brief exchange of fire took place between forces and militants in orchards of Parigam.
However, searches are still underway in the area.
Earlier, a joint team of Police, Army’s 50 RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Parigam.
As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.
