PDP workers hold protest in Kishtwar, threaten to court arrest against booking of ex-MLC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) workers on Mondaythreaten to court arrest if the FIR registered against the senior party leaderand former MLC Firdous Tak was not withdrawn.

Scores of PDP workers assembled outside police stationKishtwar and held a protest in which they accused the administration of workingunder pressure from a particular political party.

   

The protesters said they would court arrest en-masse if theFIR was not withdrawn.

On July 20, Jammu and Kashmir Police booked Tak fordelivering an alleged ‘provocative speech’ in a protest rally.

Tak along with PDP leaders and party activists had staged aprotest in Kishtwar district against the strengthening of Village DefenseCommittees (VDC) in the area.

Tak had alleged that the Government was arming members of aparticular community. “Speech of the former legislator was seen as threat tothe peace in Kishtwar district,” an official said.
