Search operation launched in south Kashmir’s Shopian

A day after the killing of three militants in a gunfight in Badigam village of Shopian, the security forces on Saturday morning launched a cordon-and-search-operation ( CASO) at another village of this south Kashmir district.

Reports said that a joint team of army, CRPF and police encircled the Chitragam village and started a door to door search operation.

According to the reports, the operation was launched after the forces were tipped off about the presence of militants in the area.

A local resident told Greater Kashmir that as they woke up, they saw the entire area dotted by the security personnel. “A cluster of houses in Malik Pora locality of the village are being searched”, he said.

The operation was underway at the time of filing this report.
