A 16-year-old girl was found hanging at her room in Lethpora village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday.
According to locals, the girl was found dead by her parents at her room today evening.
She was immediately rushed to sub-district hospital Pampore where doctors declared her brought dead.
Soon after the incident, the police reached the hospital and after all formalities started an investigation into the incident.
After postmortem, the girl’s body was handed over to her family for last rites, said an official.
While talking to Greater Kashmir, SP Awantipora Tahir Saleem said: “It seems the girl has committed suicide. We have started an investigation to ascertain the actual cause of her death,” he said.
