Vehicle carrying poultry plunges into gorge on Kashmir Highway, two dead

A vehicle carrying poultry met with an accident and plunged into a deep gorge on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, leaving two persons, including the driver, dead on Saturday.

A police official said a pickup truck, bearing registration number JK19 -7275, loaded with poultry, was en route to Ramsu from Ramban when it skidded off the road and fell into a 400 feet-deep gorge near Digdool today morning.

   

After receiving information about the accident, Ramban Police and volunteers of Civil QRT rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to District Hospital Ramban for conducting postmortem and other legal formalities.

The official identified the deceased as 32-year-old Roof Ahmed (driver) and Mohammad Usman Manhas, both residents of Magerkote in Ramsu area of Ramban district.

Hundreds of birds also died in the accident, informed SHO Police Station Ramban, Inspector Sunil Sharma.
