A youth was on Friday found dead in higher reaches of Saujiyan area of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
A police official said that Mushtaq Ahmad (21), a resident of Loran Khait, left along with his three friends to pay obeisance at a shrine in Pathra on Thursday.
He said all his friends returned home, but he didn’t. After searches, he was found dead on Friday morning, said the official, adding that they were investigating his death.
“The role of his friends is also being investigated,” said the official.
The body has been shifted to sub-district hospital Mandi for medico-legal formalities while inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPc have been started at Mandi police station, said deputy SP Mudassir Hussain.
