Thirteen girl students of Government High School Laroka in Rajouri district were hospitalized on Friday after suspected food poisoning.

Reports said the students of class 9 began to experience symptoms of food poisoning at about 11:30 am, such as nausea and dysentery, while they were studying in their classroom.

The school staff and locals rushed the girl students to Sub District Hospital Nowshera, where they are receiving treatment.

Reports said that the girls fell ill after eating some biscuits brought by a student. "It seems that biscuits brought by a girl were the reason behind the illness. The students developed gastro-intestinal infection after consuming them,” an officer within the district administration told Greater Kashmir.

Meanwhile, it has also been learnt that the biscuits were brought by the student are supplied under ICDS in Anganwari centres.

The girl students who were hospitalized have been identified as Sunakshi Sharma, Nazia Akhter, Rozia Kouser, Shabina Kouser, Afia, Shahnaz Akhter, Sayeeda Kouser, Robia, Nousheen, Saima, Shazia and Shabnam.
