Srinagar, Mar 13: Two people were killed while forces recovered arms and ammunition including RDX in the Kashmir valley overnight.
Gunmen abducted and later hanged to death one Imtiaz Ahmad Bhat at Urpash forest in Ganderbal this morning.
A caller identifying himself as spokesman of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit in a telephonic statement to local news agency CNS claimed responsibility of the killing.
“We got details of the troops network and activities from him,” the CNS quoting the spokesman said.
A soldier was injured in a militant attack in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday. The CNS said militants attacked a party of 30 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) at Kralgund Handwara, injuring the soldier. The troops launched a cordon-and-search operation in the area soon after the incident.
A body was recovered from Kulgam in south Kashmir district of Islamabad.
Police conducted a search operation at Nijwan Kangan last night. After the search police party unearthed a hideout and recovered 30 kg RDX, two rockets, seven detonators, one Improvised Explosive Device (IED), four IED junctions and one UBGL grenade. However, no one was arrested, police said.
In another operation, police raided a house at Narastan in south Kashmir district of Pulwama and recovered four 52 mm bombs, eight grenades, two UBGL grenades and 120 rounds of ammunition.
