BJP-PDP alliance: Mufti will be 'full-term' CM

Greater Kashmir

Jammu, Jan 25: Putting an end to reported controversy surrounding the Chief Minister’s term in case of a BJP-PDP tie-up on government formation in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP has conceded to the PDP’s demand to have Mufti Muhammad Sayeed as the ‘full term’ Chief Minister, Greater Kashmir has learnt.
A senior BJP leader, who is privy to this development, said the stage is “all set for first-ever BJP-PDP government in Jammu and Kashmir.”
“All major issues have been settled. Both the parties are working on a Common Minimum Programme (CMP) and have decided to keep the controversial issues aside and concentrate on development of the state, as listed in manifestos of both the parties,” he said.
He said the earlier impasse on rotational chief minister has ended after it was ‘decided’ to have Mufti as the full-term CM “in view of his (Mufti) being a seasoned politician.”
