Greater Kashmir

Srinagar: Syed Ali Geelani, chairman of his faction of Hurriyat Conference on Monday reiterated his support to ongoing protests of United Jihad Council against Pakistan government, and asked his supporters in Muzaffarabad to actively participate in demonstrations organised by the UJC, an alliance of militant groups.
“We support UJC’s decision and offer full support to them. We order our supporters at base camp to participate in the peaceful demonstrations of UJC,” a spokesman of the Hurriyat quoted Geelani as saying in an extraordinary meeting held here.
“The UJC has played an important role in the freedom movement of Kashmir and the sacrifices of each organisation in the amalgam is exemplary,” the spokesman said in a statement.
“The sacrifices offered by the Kashmirs demand that common people and Mujahideen should get united and take the struggle to its logical conclusion,” the statement said.
It termed Pakistan an important party in the solution of Kashmir issue. “Pakistan has fought three wars on Kashmir and always supported Kashmiris politically, diplomatically and morally. Five thousand youth of Pakistan have offered their lives in the last few years of armed struggle,” the statement added.
But, the Hurriyat said after 9/11 there has been change in the policy of Pakistan, which are contradictory to the aspirations of Kashmiris.
“We support UJC’s decision and offer full support to them. We order our supporters at base camp to participate in the peaceful demonstration of UJC,” the statement added.
