New Delhi, Mar 31: A book on Kashmiri folk tales written in Oriya by author Ms Phullara Nayak was released in an impressive function in New Delhi.
The function was presided by B.R. Singh, a senior IAS officer of J&K. Noted poet and art critic Dr J. P. Das released the book.
Ms Nayak’s book in Oriya on Kashmiri folk tales titled, “Kashmir Lok Katha,” has been published by Vidya Prakashan, Cuttack, Orissa, a renowned publishing house of Friends Publishers group. The writer has based her collection of folk tales from Kashmir on the interaction with the common people of Kashmir Valley during her several visits to Valley.
The book contains eighteen stories. They are variously titled, such as “Sata Godia Jantu” (The Seven Legged Animal), “Kuhuka Mudi” (The Magical Ring), “Asal Bandhuta” (True Friendship), “Atithi Seva” (Service to the Guest) etc. The 94-page hard bound book is an unique attempt by the author to spread the deep secular cultural ethos of Kashmir society among Oriya readers.
