LC pays tributes to late legislators

Srinagar: Acting Chairman, Legislative Council P. Namgyal today moved obituary references on the demise of former Prime Minister of India Chander Shakher, Former Members of Legislative Council Muhammad Ayub Khan and Haji Bulland Khan and former Member Legislative Assembly Abdul Qudoos in the house.
 Legislators who spoke on the references included Muhammad Yousuf Taing and Davender Rana.The members described the departed leaders as stalwarts who worked whole life for the betterment of the people and strengthened secular and democratic values.
 Devinder Rana, in his maiden stint in the House, also paid tributes to the late leaders, impressing the House with his oratory skills. Rana’s oratory skills will be worth watching during the proceedings of the House.
 Muhammad Yousuf Taing in his address said that late Chander Shakher who was close associate of Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah led the nation against the imposition of emergency in the country. He said that the leader was sympathizer of people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that late Hajji Bulland Khan was a great leader who worked for the upliftment of Gujjar and Backerwal community. He also paid glowing tributes to late Muhammad Ayub Khan and Abdul Qadoos.
