Peoples’ League to organize special prayer meeting at Eid Gah

Srinagar, Apr 15: Jammu and Kashmir Peoples’ League, at a meeting held here on Tuesday with its chairman Bashir Ahmad Totta in chair, finalized the programme for observing the 10th martyrdom anniversary of noted senior pro-movement leader, founder member of Hurriyat Conference and PL chairman S Hamid on April 18.
 “S Hamid was arrested on April 18, 1998 night from Ahmad Nagar, Srinagar, and instantly martyred in custody by the Indian armed forces,” said a spokesman of the PL in a statement today.
 Speaking at the meeting, the PL leaders paid glowing tributes to Shaheed S Hamid, describing him a great and sincere freedom fighter, who sacrificed everything for the cause of the freedom of his homeland.
 The meeting decided to organize Fateh Khawani and special prayer meeting on April 18, at 10.30 a.m. at the Martyrs’ Graveyard, Eid Gah, here to observe the 10th martyrdom anniversary of S Hamid. 
 Meanwhile, PL leaders reiterated the pledge to take the mission of martyrs to its logical end. Prominent among the present at the meeting include general secretary Manzoor Ahmad Malik, chief spokesman Haji Farooq Ahmad Wani and senior leader Ghulam Qadir Hagroo.
