Sajjad files nomination

Srinagar, Nov 13: Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference SajjadGani Lone Thursday filed his nomination papers from Handwara Assembly segment of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Returning Officer for Handwara Assembly segment, Muhammad Muzaffar, told Greater Kashmir that Sajjadfiled  his nomination papers   today and will contest  from the segment as candidate of the party headed by him.
This is for the first time that former separatist leader Sajad is contesting the Assembly election in his political career of 12 years.
Sajad recently met Prime Minister NarendraModi in New Delhi, triggering speculations that his PC might join hands with the BJP after the polls.
The PC has strong base in five assembly segments of Kupwara district. Besides, the party holds sizeable influence in some pockets of other districts of north Kashmir.
The PC also plans to contest some segments from south and central Kashmir to make its inroads there.
