Security issues, border situation to be reviewed
Srinagar, Jan 17: Governor N N Vohra is chairing his first Unified Headquarters meeting on January 24, two days ahead of the Republic Day.
Official sources said that security agencies have been informed about the meeting. They said that various issues pertaining to general security scenario and law and order would come up for discussion during the meeting.
“The security preparedness for the upcoming January 26 celebrations across J&K would be discussed during the meeting,” a senior police official told Greater Kashmir on the basis of anonymity. The official said that prevailing security scenario at Line of Control and International Border would be discussed in detail.
“GOC-in-Chief northern command will give detailed briefing about the security scenario at LoC and IB during the meeting,” the official said, adding that J&K DGP will brief the meeting about the law and order and security related issues. The intelligence wings of various security agencies will share their information regarding security related issues.
He said that officials of Border Security Force and Army will brief the meeting about their strategy in tackling ceasefire violations at IB and LoC.
“Divisional Commissioner Jammu will brief the meeting about the steps taken for betterment of people who migrated from villages near IB during cross border shelling,” he said.
The meeting is scheduled to be attended by GoC-in-Chief Northern Command, Principal Secretary Home, Director General of Police, GoC XV Corps, GoC XIV Corps, GoC XVI Corps, GoC IX Corps, Principal Secretary to Governor, Divisional Commissioners, Kashmir and Jammu, Special Director General CRPF, IGP CID J&K, IGP Kashmir, IGP Jammu, IG CRPF (Admn Kashmir), Joint Director IB, IG BSF Jammu, IG CRPF Jammu, IG Operations CRPF Kashmir, Commissioner SB Jammu and Media Advisor to J&K Government.
