Woman among 12 arrested

Srinagar, Apr 21: Troops arrested 12 persons including a woman during separate raids in the Valley, reports said Friday.
Local news agency CNS said troops of Territorial Army arrested a woman Khatija Begum wife of Abdus Salam Baht from her residence in Bijbehera (Islamabad). She was later handed over to police.
Residents of Gund Tral alleged that troops ransacked their household during raids in the village. Four persons including a father and his two sons were arrested form the area.
The arrested were identified as Abdur Rashid Lone son of Abdur Rehman, Ghulam Nabi Dar and his two sons Manzoor Ahmed and Muhammad Ashraf. The troopers thrashed the detainees and later whisked away Rashid while others were released. The locals demanded his release.
In Kellar Rajpora (Pulwama) soldiers during raids arrested Mushtaq Ahmed Khanday son of Ghulam Rasool, Parvez Ahmed Dar son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din and Iftikhar Khanday son of Ghulam Muhammad. They were beaten resulting in injuries to Mushtaq who was removed to hospital. The locals staged demonstrations against the incident and demanded their release.
Troopers of 9 RR arrested Fayaz Ahmed Dar son of Ghulam Hassan of Chogalpora and Abdur Rehman son of Muhammad Sultan of Muhammad Pora in Kulgam area of south Kashmir’s Islamabad district.
Meanwhile, troops tortured two persons in Handwara and later released them in moribund condition. The duo was identified as Aijaz Ahmed Wani son of Abdul Ahad Wani and Mushtaq Ahmed Bhat.
