Submerged lanes
We, the residents of Rose Lane Colony, Chanapora Srinagar, were more than happy that after our persistent efforts, the government ultimately sanctioned drainage system to the main lane and surface drains to its sub lanes. However, due to bureaucratic intervention, the original plan was tampered with and the contractor pressurized to dig the drains to their (bureaucrats’) sub lanes instead of main lane. Consequently the contractor left the main drain unfinished and without any outlet. This unfinished drain began to function reversely causing severe damages to our houses and leaving lanes submerged about three to four feet in depth. Our school going children have to put off their shoes and walk bare- footed for about 200 meters. We request the concerned quarters to do the needful to get us rid of this problem.

Replace pole
The electricity poles are tilted precariously in our locality ever since the heavy snowfall in the winters this year. One such leaning pole is located on the main road adjacent to the compound wall of Farooq Ahmed Bhat and there is every apprehension that in the event of strong winds or heavy downpour, it may fall and besides damaging the adjoining properties, also result in collapse of overhead cables. The pole needs an immediate replacement to avert the possibility of an accident of catastrophic proportions.

Narrow lane
We, the inhabitants of Lane No. 1have problems with a school that has come up amid residential houses in the narrow lane that allows passage of just one vehicle at a time. We had approached Directorate of School Education Srinagar, SMC and Revenue officials that the school would cause inconvenience to the local residents, but nobody paid any heed. We again request concerned authorities to look into the gravity of the matter so that we could feel a sigh of relief.

CM’s constituency
Ganderbal, the CM’s constituency, has gained nothing in by the ‘status’ as the roads are in shambles all over. It is worthwhile to mention that Ganderbal has never been ruled by any other party than NC, barring a few years When Qazi Afzal represented us. We appeal concerned officials and our political representative to get the roads repaired as early as possible so that masses do not face anymore troubles.
 Ashiq Muzaffar,

Undue delay
This refers to the continuous negligence being shown by the Kashmir University (Examination wing) towards conduction of exams on time. The ‘special’ treatment is especially given to students pursuing Bachelor of Engineering course from SSM college of Engg. and Tech.
The students of BE 4th sem and 6th sem of SSM college repeatedly requested the concerned authorities for no further delays in conduction of exams but to no avail.
The internal exams of the said semesters have already been held 3 and a half months ago. Consequently, we are already lagging a semester behind our counterparts in other colleges.
We appeal the KU authorities to shun delay and save our careers.
