LS: Lone seeks release of Kashmiri detainees

National Conference MP from Baramulla, Muhammad Akbar Lone on Tuesday raised the issue of release of detainees languishing in prisons in and outside J&K, amid Coronavirus scare. 

While speaking in Lok Sabha, Lone, in a statement, said,”majority of people who are languishing in jails outside J&K come frompoorer families. Their families are worried for them as they can’t visit theirloves ones outside J&K due to economic constraints,” said Lone.

   

“I therefore impress upon the Union Home Minister to ensurerelease of all detainees without any delay.,” Lone said.

Speaking in the LoK Sabha, another party MP Hasnain Masoodisought a comprehensive economic package for tourism industry in J&K.

He said the industry in J&K, particularly in the Valleyhas suffered major reverses due to the tumultuous situation and unremittinginternet blockage for the past seven months.

“Tourism industry in J&K is one of the most criticalsectors that provide employment to lakhs of people who are associated with it.The people associated with tourism sector are living hand to mouth. Thetumultuous situation in J&K, particularly in the Valley has rendered allpeople associated with it hopeless and destitute,” Masoodi said.

He said so far tourism industry has suffered around Rs20,000 crore losses according to various estimations.
