Maintain constitutional guarantees given to J&K: Cong PPG

The Jammu and Kashmir policy planning group (PPG) of the Congress party Friday urged the central government to maintain the constitutional guarantees given to J&K state.

Dr Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister, Dr Karan Singh,former Sadr-e-Riyasat, Ghulam Nabi Azad, leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, PChidambaram, former union Home Minster, Ambika Soni, GS in-charge J&K,Tariq Hamid Karra, member CWC, Ghulam Ahmed Mir, JKPCC president, and NawangRigzin Jora, former CLP leader, were present in the policy planning groupmeeting, which was held here Friday.

   

“There is deep concern at the continuous reports emanatingfrom both the union Home Ministry and the state government, which have createdan atmosphere of panic and apprehension about the intentions of the centralgovernment,” a statement issued by the PPG said.

It added, “The massive build-up of security forces,curtailment of Amarnath Yatra, and unprecedented advisories being issued to thetourists, yatris and other civilians, are all creating an atmosphere ofheightened insecurity and fear.”

The PPG urged the government not to take any decision whichwould precipitate a deep crisis.
