Rajya Sabha members from Jammu and Kashmir and leaders of Peoples Democratic Party Nazir Ahmad Laway and Mir Muhammad Fayaz met Prime Minister NarendraModi in New-Delhi on Tuesday, a statement said.
It said that the two leaders had threadbare discussion with the Prime Minister on current political situation in J&K which has been under central rule for more than a year now. “The leaders stressed on the need to conduct Assembly elections in the state sooner than later, so that the people will have easy access to their popular government. The two leaders also stressed on the need to start dialogue process at an earliest, so that there is no more bloodshed in the Valley. They impressed upon the Prime Minister to take all stake holders on board. They also highlighted the need to complete several languishing projects in the state which were started several years back. They urged the Prime Minister to earmark special package for the state in the ensuing budget so that all the projects which are pending due to lack of funds may get completed. Further they also urged to announce a special employment package for the Kashmiri youth who have been severely affected by the militancy in the state,” the statement added.
