There can’t be trade-off between budget and people’s aspirations: Masoodi

National Conference MP Hasnain Masoodi on Thursday said the budgetary allocations to J&K merited discussion in the J&K Assembly, where local representative voices would have deliberated upon the issues of public concern in an effective way.

Participating in the discussion in Lok Sabha over the grantsto J&K, Massodi said the picture that was being presented of J&K wasdifferent from the ground reality.

   

“I request that the ground situation be examined afresh,” hesaid.

Masoodi said people engaged with tourism, handicrafts andhorticulture sector were suffering the most due to the internet blockade,inclement weather conditions and lockdown.

On the issue of unemployment, Masoodi said the state wasprimarily dependent on agriculture, tourism and public sector jobs as far asemployability was concerned.

He questioned the direction of budget saying that thegovernment of India should have dialogue with all affected traders, horticulturists,and people engaged in handicraft sector to mitigate their sufferings.

He decried the measures that were taken on August 5 lastyear, saying there cannot be any trade off between genuine politicalaspirations of people of J&K and budgetary allocations.
