External affairs minister S Jaishankar on Thursday said he had assured people in Kashmir that the government will facilitate evacuation of those stranded in Iran at the earliest possible.
“I visited Srinagar recently and took the initiative tomeet the parents of some of the students who are in Iran. Their anxiety at thistime is completely understandable. I shared with them in details, the groundsituation and sought their understanding,” he told Lok Sabha.Thereare about 6000 Indian nationals in Iran, including 1100 pilgrims mainly fromLadakh, J&K and Maharashtra, nearly 300 JK students and about 1000fishermen.
