For the sake of votes

The tragedy with Kashmiris has been that their leaders have not shown consistency. They  have always got themselves down from position of strength, finally becoming apologists. No doubt in election season anywhere in the world people do talk much, promise moon, but what they don’t do is to change their political vision in the border perspective they own over period of time.

However, in conflict zones where blood is cheaper than water and honor and dignity of people matters very little, the politicians always have to keep the sufferings of their people, and the entire nation in mind. While people of J&K have nothing to celebrate since long, the political leadership stands divided into two thoughts.

One being anti-election and other school of thought believing that resolution to Kashmir dispute will come through electoral politics. The mainstream politicians despite claiming to get resolution to political conflict have achieved nothing except making political dispute further complicated, and thus are always on the defensive when it comes about aspirations and sentiments of masses.

The most painful thing which they do, is to take votes in the name of restoring honor and dignity of masses and ultimately getting them out of crises but once reaching corridors of power they take a complete U-turn and it takes years for masses to realize what do their representatives stand for.

Now when election campaign is gaining momentum, Dr. Farooq seems to have replaced Geelani Sahab, Omer Abdullah is acting like Mirwaiz, Sajad Lone trying to be a photo copy of Yaseen Malik and Mehbooba Mufti seems real Aasiya Indrabi.

This whole drama, rhetoric and politics of exploitation is sure to end the day people cast their votes and then these so called regional players will again stab Kashmiris and give shameless excuses for their U-turn. It looks so bizarre when PDP talks about giving legal aid to JKLF and Jamat-e-Islami to fight ban on them but the three MPs in the parliament hailing from PDP could not dare even to seek mortal remains of Afzal Guru.

Muzaffar Beigh broke all the records of being a hypocrite while praising Modi and calling him like an angel sent by the Almighty. Now when out of power he is seeing most corrupt, criminal and communal personality in Narindra Modi. Similarly before condemning ban on Jamat-I-Islami and JKLF, NC needs to be reminded of its brutalities over Jamat cadres. No doubt NC, PDP and Sajad Lone have a right to defend what they say but should not treat people like banana and cabbage, just to remain attached with the corridors of power.

On the one hand NC parliamentary candidate for Baramulla is calling Congress dangerous than BJP but Dr. Farooq Abdullah is asking people to support Congress in Jammu to stop communal forces. Every single word being spoken by NC leaders,  from Farooq Abdullah to their low rank leaders, smells politics of exploitation, hypocrisy.

Mehbooba, who would lash out even at media in presence of Union Home Minister and justify even the cold blooded murder of teenagers has all of a sudden issued fatwa that their  cadres are Mujahideen.

May one ask her if PDP workers are real Mujahideen why doesn’t she invite Riyaz Naikoo and Zakir Moosa to join her Jihad and make them understand her holy mission. Similarly one needs to remind Sajad Lone that he never uttered a word against innocent killings when he was the minister but now trying to exploit Paharies and Shias he is having a tweet missile always in his hands which is sure to switch off once elections are over.

People have a chance to show all hypocrites their true placebut if they vote again for them, Kashmiris will lose the moral right to cryvictim.
