IUST celebrates Foundation Day

Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) celebrated its 13th foundation day with fervor last week. In a statement said multiple sessions and performances were organized by Islamic University Faculty Association (IUFA) to unveil varsity’s official logo. Vice chancellor IUST, Prof Mushtaq A Siddiqi who was chief guest on the occasion congratulated the fraternity and lauded efforts put forward by everyone involved with the university from its inception. He also put on record contribution of his predecessors. “Within 12 years, IUST has made its mark in field of higher education in the region and is now recognized on map of academic excellence by various eminent platforms. This has been a collective effort of the entire IUST fraternity,” he said.

Prof. Siddiqi called on faculty to keep on improving ‘research profile’ of the university established in 2005. Former VC Prof Siddiq Wahid who was the guest of honour shared his experiences as founding vice chancellor of the varsity. He talked about paradigm under which it worked during his tenure. Earlier in his welcome address, President IUFA Mohammad Ashraf Parray elaborated on journey of the university and highlighted “efficient work culture” of the university and mentioned contributions made by former vice chancellors and staff towards consolidating the position of IUST in higher education. Dean academic affairs, Prof A M Shah said university needs to focus upon “some parameters” by which it can excel in every field. Deans of various schools, Prof AH Moon, Prof Abdul Salam Bhat and Prof Rather gave presentations on achievements and vision of different departments. The students also presented some performances.
