JKBOSE holds workshop on proposed state education policy

A three day consultative workshop on development of preliminary draft of new state education policy was held at JKBOSE office at Bemina here. The workshop was attended by educationists, academicians and scholars of the J&K. During the programme, deliberations were held on the recent recommendations in the draft National Education Policy (NEP) – 2019 and their appropriateness to the proposed state education policy. In her address, Chairperson JKBOSE Prof Veena Pandita stressed the need for intensive analysis of the recommendation for NPE-2019 so that the recommendations for the state education don’t get surpassed.

“National draft policy is certainly a reformative step in the right direction conveying focused base for action,” she said. In his address Secretary JKBOSE, Reyaz Ahmad underlined the need to go through the recommendations of NEP- 2019 to search out “what is good therein to be incorporated in the draft of new state education policy.” In his keynote address, Prof NA Nadeem from CU-K shared the main highlights of NPE-recommendations. He underlined certain flaws in the recommendations and said these need to be looked into while finalizing the preliminary draft for state education policy. Prof. Renu Nanda from Jammu, Mohammad Rafi, former director school education Kashmir and Bashir Ahmad Dar, former Secretary JKBOSE also participated in the discussion. Assistant directors and academic officers of JKBOSE, academicians from school and higher education department also attended the programme.
