Measles-Rubella campaign crosses one million mark

The ongoing measles-rubella vaccination campaign in J&K has crossed one million mark in 12 days of school activity after its launch on 24 September.

The campaign is going on in full swing in J&K, said an official, adding both public and private schools were actively participating in the vaccination drives. A statement from directorate of family welfare, MCH & Immunization said medical and paramedical staff involved in the campaign were enthused by children who post vaccination were seen happily displaying their vaccination completion certificates.

   

The officials of the directorate have expressed satisfaction over the progress made so far. Dr Samir Mattoo director family welfare, MCH and immunization congratulated people involved in achieving the million figure and said that he was hopeful that the targets will be achieved well in time. 

As per the directorate, more than 5.50 lakh children have been vaccinated in Kashmir division while over 4.50 lakh children have been vaccinated in Jammu division. Most well known private and missionary schools across Kashmir have already got their students vaccinated.

The director family welfare has appealed all parents to come forward with their wards for vaccination to make J&K Measles- Rubella free.
