On anti corruption drive

In a society where corruption, nepotism and favoritism have a social sanctity not much can be changed even if intentions of the Government of the day are good. While much is being talked about crackdown on J&K Bank, the real intentions behind the entire operation can be debatable, but the story of backdoor appointments and other sorts of favouritism, is something which is more like a precedence than an allegation or a crime. The fact is that we all need to change and introspect. The day when son of a Chief Minister and that of a street vendor find level playing field to compete, it will be beginning of a new era. The increasing desire to become powerful, rich and dominant has brought huge disorder in the entire society. Leaving politics apart every responsible and sensible citizen must support Government’s initiatives against corruption and nepotism. If we are able to make a common man living below poverty line believe and realize that he will get what he deserves without paying bribe or using influence; at the same time a Chief Minister’s son should be knowing that his rights are by no means more than those of a street vendor, it will mean beginning of a new era.

Let J&K Bank operation ‘clean up’ be the beginning not the end. Isn’t it strange that in most of the cases son of politician too becomes a politician, bureaucrat’s son turns to be a bureaucrat and son of a farmer or a laborer can’t see anything new even if he has a huge talent. If we all start talking about our duties than our rights things will change. Let me say with confidence and responsibility that any developmental project under execution by any department or any other agency can be completed within 45-50% of the allocated cost, if system is God fearing, corruption free and transparent. There can be nothing shameful than the fact that we fail to complete most of the developmental projects despite having funds available and then at the end of the day cry about cost escalation. In a society where teachers find it disgraceful, and below their status, to admit their children in the same schools where they get huge salaries, we should not expect intellectual class upholding principals of morality and ethics.

How strange that local police cops often face heat and anger from the common masses as the political conflict has put them against each other but for politicians and bureaucrats the same police men in civic are like domestic loyal servants seen taking their kids to school, carrying their suit cases, purchasing goods from the Bazar and doing everything which has nothing to do with their professional job. If a reliable commission is constituted 99% politicians, from MLAs to Chief Ministers, and from Tehsildars to right upto the top, will land in jail for making huge disproportionate assets. Current dispensation, if sincere, must ensure that. Those who become doctors and engineers by taking benefit of being residents of border or backward areas prefer to leave the job rather than serve in their native places are worse than those who are involved in backdoor appointments. No doubt one wrong cannot justify the other but can anyone deny backdoor entries in every single department including J&K assembly. Thousands of SPOs have been recruited during past 10 years without following a procedure and how many people have been engaged by successive Governments, is known to all. The elite leaders of all political parties have been partners in every crime and have damaged the credibility of institutions. While innocents got killed for ensuring perks, privileges and promotions to few. Mainstream politicians successfully made New Delhi understand that without them everyone is anti-Indian and as such they must be given freedom to build and create huge assets whatsoever it may require and they must be exempted from being questioned and monitored. Let me conclude by asking the current regime that please show the courage to bring the derailed system back to the track, restore confidence of a common man by ensuring no to corruption, nepotism or favoritism and lay a strong foundation for a vibrant system so that whosoever comes into power feels it difficult to serve a particular class or to promote its self-centered agenda. However to achieve this, every citizen has to make up his mind that his vote must not be guided by the sole desire to seek benefits or privileges, he actually doesn’t deserve.
