Looking from the historical point of view, the creditfor introducing guidance movement goes to Samuel Hartlib, a reputed student ofthe Oxford University London. Hartlib served as a guide for new entrants toOxford University. The movement of guidance soon spread to different parts ofthe globe and achieved a manifold progress.

The need of guidance is felt in all cultures irrespective oftheir cultural standard. Guidance as a professional process invites expertopinions from different angles to shape the career of youngsters on a line ofconfidence and progress.

Among all forms of guidance, educational guidance earned more faith and reputation in all cultures as education is the ultimate tool of progress and development. In the field of academics, guidance has a justified position. Educational guidance is a process that enables an individual to select an educational career of his choice and to make progress in it.

Education and guidance are the two faces of the same coin that work hand in hand for the betterment of the learners in their respective areas of academic quest. In the modern complex society guidance has gained momentum and is always an area of preference for experts in different areas.

Suitable educational guidance must be provided to learners at all levels of education to minimize the wastage of talent and to derive maximum output from the educational circuit. Nothing should be forced upon the learners as it keeps a strong stamina to disturb their academic career.

Educational institutions must inculcate the habit ofdeveloping educational guidance cells to enable learners to select educationalstreams of their choice and to make suitable progress in their respective areasof concern to make their dreams true.
