State Project Director Samagra distributes school bags among government school children

The school education department has started an initiative to distribute the school bags among the school going children at primary level.

The initiative has been taken under the centrally sponsored scheme Samagra Shiksha.

To begin with, the state project director Samagra shiksha Arun Kumar Manhas on Friday distributed the school bags among first and second primary students in two education zones of Jammu.

The department has to distribute 2.50 lakh school bags among children in first phase.

These bags are specially designed with inbuilt desks for students as well. These school bags have been approved by the ministry of human resource development (MHRD) for the year 2018-19.

“It has been observed that children who sit for long hours in classes without desks develop poor posture and eye sight problems. To overcome this problem these school bags have been designed to cater to the needs of the children and to prevent them from health problems,” the spokesman said.

He said the school bag has two compartments for keeping books, lunch box, a water bottle pouch and an extra pouch for keeping stationary. “It is a lightweight bag with educational desk easy for students to carry and also use it at home,” the spokesman said.
