Farooqa Parveen’s book ‘Khayali Haq’ released

SRINAGAR: A book releasing function was organized by the Nigeeni Cultural Foundation in collaboration with Directorate of Information and Public Relations here on Tuesday.

The book titled “Khayali Haq” authored by Farooqa Parveen  was released by Darakshan Andrabi, Member Central Waqf Council in presence of Director Information and Public Relations Gulzar Ahmad Shabnum.

Speaking on the occasion, Director Information congratulated the author for bringing out a book with depth on a very important subject. He expressed the hope that the author would continue her work in the field of literature and poetry.

He said feminist writers require more appreciation and encouragement to give vent their literary potential and getting them a due space in literary circles.

Darakshan, on the occasion said that research-oriented books undertaken by the author would provide insight in the work of writer on Sufism. She said that it would serve as a good referral to the writers as well as researchers on the subject.

Eminent writer and broadcaster Abdul Ahad Farhad gave a brief overview of the relevance of book in the present context.

The function was attended by several intellectuals, writers and cultural activists from different parts of the state.

Cultural program organised at DIPR auditorium

SRINAGAR: Firdous Dramatic Club in collaboration with Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) and Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Tuesday presented a colourful cultural programme here at DIPR auditorium.

During the cultural programme, artists presented beautiful songs in the local languages including Urdu and Kashmiri. A programme based on the theme of drug de-addiction was also performed by the artists.

Director Information and Public Relations Gulzar Ahmad Dar was the chief guest on the occasion.

Former Director Information Farooq Ahmad Renzu and prominent writer G R Hasrat Gadda were guest of honor.

A large number of art lovers were present on the occasion.

The programme was highly applauded by the audience who demanded that more such programmes should be organised in future as well.

Mementos were distributed among the artists, singers and writers.

JKAACL pays tributes to Prof Firaq,  Ustad Nasruallah

Srinagar: Rich tributes were paid to eminent writer and scholar Prof Gh. Nabi Firaq and versatile composer and musician Ustad Narullah Khan at two different venues at S.P. College Srinagar and Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School Kothi Bagh, respectively.

The function at S.P. college, Srinagar  was presided over by Head P.G. Deptt.  of Kashmir University Prof. Majrooh Rashid while Chief Editor JKAACL  M. Ashraf Tak, Prof. Villayat Rizvi and Son of  G. N. Firaq Nasir Mansoor were also in the presidium. The function started with recitation of Naatiya Kalaam of  Firaq by noted singer Raja Bilal. Tak in his welcome address described Prof Firaq a trendsetter who introduced many trends in Kashmiri poetry. Dr. Ali Mohammed Nishtar and Bashir Charag presented two papers about life and contribution of Prof. Firaq. Noted Kashmri folk singer Gulzar Ahmed Ganaie presented G. N. Firaq’s work.

G N Firaq Memorial awarded some eminent literary personalities and also organized a poetic symposia dedicated to Prof. G. N. Firqa A large number of literary figures and students were present on the occasion. Proceedings of the function were conducted by Khurshid Qureshi and coordinator of the programme was Editor Kahmiri Javaid Iqbal Khan.

At Kothi Bagh Girls Hr. Sec. School, musical tributes were paid to legendary composer and singer Ustad Nasrullah Khan. Prominent singers including Tahseen Shafi, Mohsin Dilshad, Mohammed Abdullah Shakshaz, Showkat Ahmed Santoornawaz and Abdul Rashid Shah presented popular composition of Ustad Nasrulla Khan. The function was presided over by former Deputy Director General DDK Dr Rafiq Masoodi, while principal Kothi Bagh Girls Hr. Secondary, Nusrat Bukhari, Chief Editor M. Ashraf Tak and Rahmatulluh Khan Son of Nasrullah Khan were also in the presidium. Dr. Rafiq Masoodi in his presidential address congratulations JKAACL for organizing  this meaningful and purposeful function aiming at paying tributes to our cultural legends.

A number of admirers of Ustad Nasrullah Khamn and students from various educational institutions were present on the occasion. Proceeding of the function was conducted by Rashid Nazami and Coordinator of the programme was Dr. Gulazar Ahmed Rather, Asstt. Editro Kashmiri.

Book release function held at Pulwama

PULWAMA: District Cultural Society Pulwama in collaboration with J&K Handicapped Association orgainsed a book release function at Town hall Pulwama here last Saturday.

The book “Shiluk Saaz” written by Mushtaq Ahmad Mushtaq was released by Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Dr Syed Abid Rashid who was the Chief guest on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, DC praised the efforts  of the writer for his attempt and wished him more success in future. He said that we must encourage such writers who despite lacking resources and facing lot of odds,  have been able to compile the ideas/facts in the form of a book. He added that such persons are hope of society and will always be remembered.

DC handed over a cheque of Rs 20000 as a token of love, while as J&K Handicapped association presented a check of Rs 10,000 to the author.

A large number of writers, poets, physically handicapped persons graced the function.

Bhagat bags Sangeet Natak Academy award

Srinagar: Known theatre personality and president Baba Reshi Folk theatre Mohammed Siddiq Bhagat has been selected for Sangeet Natak Akademi award in the folk theatre category for the year 2018.

Bhagat has been chose for the award for his work done in Band Paether and keeping alive the tradition. Bhagat has been in the theatre for last 40 years and is recipient of various state and national awards. He has been active in reviving the folk theatre and continues to perform both indoors and outdoors.

Various cultural and folk theatre groups and artists have congratulated Bhagat for the award.

The General Council selected 44 artists from the field of Music, Dance, Theatre, Traditional/Folk/Tribal Music/Dance/Theatre, Puppetry and Overall contribution/scholarship in the Performing Arts for the Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards for the year 2018 in a meeting. These 44 artists include three joint awards. The Sangeet Natak  Akademi Awards will be conferred by the President of India at a special investiture ceremony, the  release said.

Akademi Award carries Rs 1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh), besides an engraved copper plate and a memento.
