Indian firing killed 6 including 4 of a family, says Pakistan

At least six Pakistani civilians, four of them from one family, were killed and 22 others were injured in Sialkot district in heavy Indian shelling from across the Working Boundary on Friday, officials and residents said.

“Indian troops initiated unprovoked cease fire violation along Working Boundary targeting civil population in Sialkot district since early morning,” said the Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR), the media affairs wing of Pakistan army.

Abid Mehdi, a local journalist, told Greater Kashmir on telephone that a shell landed on a house in Charwa sector, leaving a woman and three children, aged between 22 and 10 years, killed on the spot and two more family members injured.

He said another two men were killed in Harpal sector.

Mehdi said, 22 persons had so far been injured in Charwa, Harpal, Sochet Gardh, Chapral, Bajra Galli and adjacent areas.

“The shelling is continuing and casualties may swell,” he said.

The ISPR said that Pakistan Rangers Punjab were effectively responding and targeting those Indian posts which had initiated fire.

The Line of Control (LoC) however remained silent on Friday, as no incident of ceasefire violation were reported from any area of Pakistan administered Kashmir.
