13 injured in road accidents

Thirteen persons sustained injuries in separate road accidents in Ramban and Poonch districts on Monday.

In Ramban, as per reports, a Scorpio car, JK02B 3366, which was on its way to Patnitop from Jammu, skidded off the road and slipped into a 50-feet-deep gorge near Ladwal on the old alignment of Jammu-Srinagar highway on Monday morning.

   

A police officer said, “Nine persons, including three women and three teenagers, sustained injuries in the accident. They were shifted to Sher-e-Kashmir Hospital, Batote, where they are under treatment. Their condition is stated to be stable.”

The injured have been identified as RL Koul (56), Rajinder Kichlu (47), Kitsni Kichlu (45), Renu Kichlu (44), Shreya Kitchlu (17), Siddhant Kitchlu (13), Khushi (16), Siddharth and Ratan Lal (62).

Police have taken cognizance of the incident.

Meanwhile, in Poonch’s Mendhar area, a taxi, JK20 6508, skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge at Batadurian area on the Jammu-Poonch highway. As a result, four passengers sustained injuries.

A police officer said, “Soon after the accident, a rescue operation was launched and all the injured were removed from the car and shifted to a nearby hospital. One among the injured was later referred to district hospital, Rajouri, as his condition was stated to be critical.”

The injured include Raftar Ahmed, son of Mumtaz Ahmed, Mohammad Shoket, son of Mohammad Shafi, Mohammad Altaf, son of Mohammad Shafi, and Wahid Ahmed, son of Kamar Hussain.

Police have registered a case and are investigating it further.
