2 explosive devices destroyed along Nowshera-LoC

Security forces Monday destroyed two explosive devices that were recovered from a forward location along the Line of Control in Jhanger, Nowshera.

As per sources to Greater Kashmir, on Saturday afternoon, army recovered four explosive devices from a forward location along the Line of Control in Jhanger. A team was rushed to the spot to destroy the devices on the same day. 

   

One of the explosive devices was destroyed successfully, but another one, killing army major ChitreshBisht and injuring another personnel.

“The process to destroy the remaining two explosive devices was stopped on Saturday evening after the explosion,” sources said, adding that the two devices were destroyed by making them explode on Monday afternoon.

Sources, however, added that the exact nature of the devices is not clear. “It is being suspected that the same were either improvised explosive devices or anti-personal land mines, which could have been planted by border action team from across the LoC on forward locations near Indian army posts,” they said.

A local from Jhanger said that two major explosions took place in the afternoon hours, which rattled the village and left people in a state of panic.
