At least two residential structures were damaged after a major landslide hit village Loha Katha of Kotranka tehsil here, officials said.
The officials said that 12 families residing in the ‘slide red zone area’ houses were also evacuated and shifted to safer places with most of them moved to there relatives living in the adjoining villages.” said officials who added that rescue operation was launched immediately after the information of slide was received on Sunday morning.
“So far no loss of life took place.” they said.
Locals informed that a few days ago, a normal landslide hit the Kandi village Loha Katha which kept on swelling with passing days and on Saturday evening a major portion of landslide downwards triggered panic in the area.
A fresh slide took place on Sunday morning when around 40 kanals of land were hit by the slide.
It has been learnt that the slide is taking place continuously and there is every possibility that slide debris can engulf 11 houses located downwards in the village and people living in these villages have been shifted to other places.
Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Nazir Sheikh said relief in the form of tents and other material has been provided as immediate help for the affected families.
“We will ensure every possible help to the affected families and Additional Deputy Commissioner Kotranka has also been asked to submit a detailed loss report by tomorrow,” said Deputy Commissioner.
