24 health centres found locked in Rajouri

To ensure regularity, punctuality, work culture and to check absenteeism, special teams, constituted on the directions of district development commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad, conducted inspections in several health institutions across the district on Friday.

The teams, additional deputy commissioners, sub-divisional magistrates, tehsildars and naib tehsildars, inspected the institutions simultaneously in the morning, an official of the district administration said.

During the surprise inspection, 120 institutions were inspected. These included 26 in Nowshera, 25 in Sunderbani, 19 in Kalakote, 20 in Darhal, 26 in Manjakote and 4 in Kandi.

The official added, “During the inspection, several institutions were found locked. These included 6 in Nowshera, 5 in Sunderbani, 5 in Kalakote, 2 in Darhal, 5 in Manjakote and 1 in Kandi.”

The DDC has asked the CMO Dr Suresh Gupta to file a report, in order to initiate strict disciplinary action.

Meanwhile, the salary of BMO Sunderbani, BMO Nowshera, BMO Kalakote and BMO Manjakote has been withheld, till further orders, for lack of proper monitoring.

Also, during the checking, 30 employees were found absent, while 94 were on leave.

“An explanation has been sought from CMO and BMOs, asking whether they have followed the leave rules in sanctioning leave of such a large number of officials/employees,” the official said.

Meanwhile, the DDC said, “This surprise checking was to ensure punctuality and discipline in the government institutions and offices, in order to provide the best healthcare facilities to the public.”

He added that no laxity in attendance and punctuality in the offices would be tolerated at any cost and such inspections shall be conducted in the future too. He clarified that action shall also be initiated against such leave sanctioning authorities, who have sanctioned leaves in an irrational and casual manner.
