3 killed, 8 injured in Mendhar accident

Three people including a woman died and 8 others injured when a Tata Sumo vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell in a deep gorge alongside the Surankote-Mendhar road.

Official sources said that a Tata Sumo vehicle (JK02AC 0074) was on its way to Gursai village from Surankote when it met with an accident at Phamra Nar Village on the Surankote-Mendhar road.

   

They said that one Liyaqit Hussain (48) son of Khadam Hussain of Gursai died on the spot while 10 people sustained injuries. 

“The injured were taken to sub district hospital Surankote where after preliminary treatment the seriously injured, four in number, were referred to district hospital Rajouri and Government Medical College Jammu. Two of the severely injured died on the way,” a police official told Greater Kashmir.

Two people who died on way to district hospital Rajouri and Medical College Jammu have been identified as Khushal Kanta wife of Madan Mohan of Draba and Nishar Hussain Shah son of Said Hussain Shah of Gursai.  

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the law at Gursai police station and taken up further investigation.
