‘3 months on, Gulabgarh residents await repair of footbridge’

A footbridge between Kaidoora and Gulabgarh that was damaged three months ago has still not been repaired and the locals are aghast at what they term as “official apathy”.

The irked residents said, “Three months ago, the footbridgewas completely damaged. Since then, the government has not initiated any repairwork and we continue to suffer.”

   

While listing the problems they face, the locals said, “Kidsstudying in Government Higher Secondary School are the worst suffers. Thechildren of Shabrass, Nihoch, Arabais, Dogga and Dewal village are enrolled inthe school and face immense hardships in crossing the river, as the water levelhas risen and the footbridge is broken.”

Fareed Ahmad, a resident of Kaidoora, claimed, “We took thematter up with the concerned authorities several times, but nothing has beendone yet. We continue to suffer.”

 The students, wishinganonymity, said, “As the monsoons are set to start soon, crossing the riverwould become impossible. In such a scenario, we will not be able to attendschool, which will unfortunately affect our studies and careers.”

The residents urged upon the governor’s administration tolook into the issue and redress their grievance at an earliest.
