4 years on, Dassal residents await road completion

Sanctioned in 2015-16 session, the two-kilometer-long road stretch from Dassal Panchayat Ghar to Dassal Karyalan continues to remain incomplete, irking the locals.

The residents of Dassal Karyalan and nearby areas, includingParshotam Lal Sharma and Ashok Kumar Sharma, said, “The work on the road wasstarted four years ago. Even though the length of the road is barely twokilometers, the concerned department has failed to complete it in such a longtime.”

   

They said, “Our village is located just four kilometers fromthe district headquarter town, but we are still facing official apathy. We canonly imagine the state of affairs in far-flung areas.”

The locals appealed to the Governor’s administration tointervene and resolve the issues concerning the project, so that it iscompleted at an earliest.

Meanwhile, in its official communication through the officeof District Information Officer Rajouri, the office of Executive Engineer, PWD,Rajouri division, informed that road project was sanctioned in 2015-16 at anestimated cost of Rs 191.68 lakhs.

“A land dispute case, which is sub judice at the moment, isthe reason behind the delay. Once the court grants permission, work willresume,” he said, adding that the department is facing some paucity of funds aswell.
