47 stranded vehicles rescued in night-long operation

Authorities rescued 47 vehicles from Jarran Wali Gali on the Poonch highway last night, after they were stranded due to snowfall.

According to reports, due to fresh snowfall from 9 to 11 in the night, the Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch highway, from Bhimber Gali chowk to Surankote, became too slippery for vehicles.

Sources said that a joint rescue operation was launched by the army, 6 sector, and local police, headed by SSP Rajiv Pandey, Additional SP Anwar ul-Haq, SDPO Mendhar Reyaz Tantray and SDPO Surankote Asgar Malik.  The operation continued for more than 3 hours and ended at 3 in the morning, with 47 vehicles being rescued.

2 people received minor injuries when their car turned turtle on the highway at Jarran Wali Gali due to slippery conditions.
