6 arrested, 45 bovines rescued, 8 vehicles seized

The police on Thursday claimed to have arrested six people, seized eight vehicles and rescued 45 bovines. 

In Thannamandi, the police said, “A team led by SHO Nazir Ahmed Dar, under the supervision of SDPO Iftikar A Chowdhary, was on routine patrolling on the Thanamandi road when three Tata Mobiles were parked by the drivers at some distance from the check-post, before fleeing from the spot.” 

The team recovered 18 bovines from these three vehicles, JK12 3677, JK02 5780 and JK11A 4324.

One of the drivers, Yaseer Hussain, later returned to the spot and was arrested by the police while the other two are still absconding.

Police have taken cognizance of the matter.

Meanwhile, in Mendhar, “Local police teams laid a check-post on Mendhar roads and intercepted three Tata Mobiles near Mendhar bypass road, while two others were intercepted at Ari road. All the five vehicles were found loaded with bovines and were seized while twenty seven bovines were rescued from them and five smugglers have also been arrested," said an officer.

He identified the arrested men as as Nisar Hussain, Javed Iqbal, Mohammed Mushtaq, Mohammed Khursheed and Mohammed Taj. Police have registered two separate cases in this regard.
